GDLSK partner, Valerie Sorensen-Clark, is speaking at the Descartes Innovation Forum, taking place October 6–8, 2026 in Chicago.
Valerie’s session, “From Data to Detention: How CBP Identifies and Targets High-Risk Shipments,” will take place October 6 from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. CT as part of the Global Trade Intelligence track. The session will examine how U.S. Customs and Border Protection assembles a risk profile from entry data and analytics ahead of a shipment’s arrival, and what stands behind the flags that lead to detention: gaps in classification, valuation, and country of origin, and the supply chain traceability now required under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.
Valerie brings nearly a decade of experience from CBP’s Office of Chief Counsel to the discussion, including her work leading the agency’s representation before the U.S. Court of International Trade in matters spanning tariff classification, valuation, and challenges to presidential tariff authority.
