Valerie Sorensen-Clark and Katherine Dobscha to Present at the Tenth Trade Law Fall Update – Case Western Reserve University School of Law

GDLSK partner, Valerie Sorensen-Clark, and GDLSK Associate, Katherine Dobscha, are speaking at the Case Western Reserve University, Tenth Trade Law Fall Update—taking place on line via Zoom on Friday, Oct. 9,  2026.

Valerie’s session will be a discussion of refunds of IEEPA tariff litigation, and the challenges that successful plaintiffs have faced to receive them.  This (second) panel will also address other litigation pending in US courts challenging the Section 122 surcharge, and more.

Katherine’s session includes the hot topics of the day in trade and customs law.

Valerie brings nearly a decade of experience from CBP’s Office of Chief Counsel to the discussion, including her work leading the agency’s representation before the U.S. Court of International Trade in matters spanning tariff classification, valuation, and challenges to presidential tariff authority.  Learn more about Valerie and her practice here.

Katherine began her career with GDLSK as an intern in the summer of 2018 while a law student at Case Western.  She is based in Cleveland. Her practice is focused on customs and international trade law. Ms. Dobscha has experience with the classification of merchandise under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, free trade agreements, country of origin determination and marking, Section 232 exclusions, Forced Labor issues, and first sale appraisement programs.
