On June 7, 2019, President Trump announced that proposed additional tariffs on goods imported from Mexico are “indefinitely suspended”. The tariffs were scheduled to take effect on June 10, 2019, at an initial rate of 5% ad valorem, and rise thereafter by 5% increments on the first of each month, ending on October 1, 2019, when 25% would be reached. President Trump announced that the tariffs were suspended due to the Mexican government agreeing to address immigration enforcement issues.
