John D. Hayes Jr. is an Associate (pending admission) in the firm’s New York office. He began his career with GDLSK as a summer associate in 2024. His practice is focused on customs and international trade law. Mr. Hayes has experience with the classification of merchandise under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, country of origin determinations, Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) compliance, Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA) investigations, first sale appraisement programs, and drafting responses to CF-28s and CF-29s.
As a law student, Mr. Hayes completed a judicial internship at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and served as a legal intern at Pfizer. Coming from a family with deep roots in customs brokerage, Mr. Hayes brings a strong practical understanding to the complexities of customs and international trade law to the firm.
