Special Duty Programs

There are a number of special programs available that can provide significant duty savings opportunities for importers. Duty-free or reduced duty treatment is potentially available through programs such as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI), Israeli Free Trade Agreement, the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), and various other bilateral and multi-lateral free trade agreements.

Duty-free or reduced duty treatment is also available through other programs including the offshore assembly of American origin components, the return of previously imported goods after being repaired offshore and the use of carnets or temporary importation bonds. We counsel our clients on the eligibility requirements and benefits of these special duty programs.
