Quotas and Import Restrictions
The United States maintains a comprehensive system of import restraints that limit or prohibit the importation of certain merchandise. These measures have typically consisted of outright quantitative limits or tariff-rate quotas. Our attorneys work closely with the U.S. government agencies that administer these programs. Quotas and import restrictions have historically been applied to:
  • Apparel and textile articles
  • Most agricultural products
  • Sugar containing products
  • Cocoa, butter, milk and cheese products
The firm routinely advises clients on how to manage their businesses within the context of these restrictive trade barriers.
